John is the CEO and Owner of SBB Capital Partners.

After obtaining his MBA, John began his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the international accounting and consulting firm, and subsequently joined Progressive Corporation, a large U.S. based insurance company. John was a Division President at Progressive and subsequently became the CEO of a New York based private equity investment company. In 2001, he founded The Merrymeeting Group (MMI) as a platform investment company and MMI has subsequently acquired 7 additional companies. John is the majority owner of MMI Capital Partners, LLC, which is the co-owner of SFI Capital Group, LLC, SBB Capital Partners' affiliated FINRA-registered broker-dealer.

John’s professional credentials include being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Business Intermediary (CBI), Series 7-General Securities Representative, Series 24-General Securities Principal, Series 63-Uniform Securities Agent and Series 79-Limited Representative-Investment Banking, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). He is a frequent speaker on various business topics and most recently was the subject matter expert for the writing of “Selling Your Business For Dummies”, a Wiley Press publication.

Steve is has a deep and diverse background in business. His experience includes managing multi-billion dollar business units for some of the world’s largest companies, a strong track record of innovation, small business ownership and a hands on style. In addition, to his investment banking activities, Steve owns several rapid growth businesses that are leaders in their respective segments. In his leisure time he enjoys skiing, mountain biking, sailing and history.

Steve is a Master’s graduate of the Ross Business School of the University of Michigan with a strong background in Finance and Technology.

Steve’s career began in commercial lending where he was involved in early consolidation activities of the industry. In 1980 he joined Andersen Consulting and was promoted to Partner in 1991. He was one of the founding partners of Accenture and left the firm shortly after it went public having completed a 21 year career with multiple technology innovations and accomplishments to his credit. Upon leaving Accenture, Steve immediately was hired by General Motors Corporation to undertake a global renovation of its Sales Service and Marketing Operations. This three year journey delivered several hundred million dollars in cost reductions to the Company. The multi-continent and constant travel requirements led him to look for alternative opportunities so he could spend time with his growing family.

Since leaving the world of an employee of a large corporation, Steve has worked on multiple consulting arrangements for a variety of large technology and automotive Companies, including multiple large acquisitions and consolidation efforts. These activities led him to acquire his investment banking licensing and begin to build a portfolio of his own businesses.

Today, Steve works to serve the lower middle market for mergers and acquisition. He enjoys assisting companies find the value in their businesses, identifying buyers, structuring and completing the deal. Steve is relentless in completing the assignments he accepts, while simultaneously developing enduring relationships with his clients.

Brian has over 20 years of experience as an independent business owner and managing business transactions. As a seasoned intermediary, Brian has successfully represented companies in a broad range of industries helping business owners achieve their desired exit strategy or growth initiative.

Brian is also a Senior Partnerof Sunbelt Indiana Business Resource, a very well recognized business intermediary firm based in Indianapolis and co-founder of Ninth Rule Capital, a Private Investment Company.

Prior to becoming a partner in SBB Capital, Brian was involved in several entrepreneurial ventures as well as having held corporate roles serving as Vice President of Franchise Development at Prime Hospitality and Director of Franchising for Choice Hotels.

Brian is a graduate of Ball State University with a degree in Management Information Systems and earned his MBA from Butler University. He has received the Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) designation, maintains the Series 7 – General Security Representative, the Series 63 – Uniform Securities Agent,Series 79 - Limited Representative - Investment Banking Licences, and is a licensed Real Estate Broker. He is affiliated with several organizations including the Entrepreneur Organization, a Member of the International Business Brokers Association, Venture Club, and a Board Member of The Entrepreneur Institute.
